Last week I packed my bags at my home on the farm in Airdrie, charged my gear, and hauled about 30lbs of camera gear on my back through 9 hours of airport so I could get to my destination: Atlanta, Georgia, for a wedding photography workshop!!! (That post is coming soon– I promise!!) After my day-long workshop, I enjoyed a well deserved sleep-in at the hotel!! I slung that “please do not disturb” sign without an ounce of guilt. I was wiped after my full day of learning & shooting with Bobbi from the Salty Peanut Photography . When I woke up the next morning, I hopped on the computer and looked at what kind of adventure I could get into on my spare day in Georgia. I made plans to drive from Atlanta to LaFayette, grabbed a “shake” and hit the dusty trail!! This drive takes me right through the Chattahoochee National Park. I stopped on a rural road for some photos which you’ll see here, outside of the National Park. I was itching to use my new Film Love Presets by Blue Dandelion Photography, which Bobbi gave us in our workshop goodie bags!!!

After taking a 7 hour tour of Georgia, it’s no shocker why some of my favourite horror genre TV shows ( like the Walking Dead, the Vampire Diaries and True Blood) are based around Georgian scenery. Everything about this state is moody… It’s landscape is dramatic, the greens of the trees are deep emerald. The bark on the trees is gnarled, the branches are rugged, long and lanky. I suppose there is a spooky appeal to the place as well. In some places, the trees are dense, and in others… the trees must be at least 60 ft tall with nothing between them but a bed of pine needles. I saw my fair share of old, run down barns and plantation houses. So moody, but so romantic. I am in love!

I can’t wait to get back to some Southern Hospitality. Could you imagine how gorgeous this state is in the summer!?
