I hope everyone has enjoyed a fabulous holiday season!!! As we turn the page on 2015 and begin 2016, I can’t help but think about how far I’ve come as a photographer.
Just to test my skills, I reopened this session from December 2013. This is my very first session I ever did of my friend Stina Nagel and her horse Remington!!! I photographed this session with my Canon Rebel t4i (fresh & crisp out of the box!! 😉 ) on auto mode. I remember getting to the Nagel farm full of confidence.. stepping out of my car and then realizing I had no clue.. or any plan whatsoever!!! I didn’t have any ideas about posing or directing a subject so I just ‘went with it’ and documented as I went along. I was hit, full in the face, photography is a lot more than clicking a shutter button. I remember struggling to get the RAW images into my computer and literally flailing around in Lightroom trying to understand what all of the sliders meant. The first time I tucked into these photos it took me about 10 hours of work to get to a final product I liked!!
I still look back at these images with fondness. They are mis-focused, some are a little soft, but the emotion & story shines through. When I went through the RAW images today, it took me about an hour to prepare the photos and blog post like a well oiled machine.
When I started photography I was a ‘jack of all trades’. If you would pay me, I would photograph it!! Babies, families… horses, chickens.. you name it. In 2015 I made the decision to only photograph what I love: Engagements, Weddings & Equine and today I celebrate the weight lifted off my shoulders as I look forward to another year of doing what I love!!
Heres to another fabulous year with the most amazing clients a gal could ask for !!!
Cheers! xoxox Kaycee
