A Romantic Picture Butte Engagement Near Carson’s Family’s Farm..
My, my how time flies! It feels like it was just yesterday when I first met Mick during the 2014 Calgary Stampede Royal Trio Pageant. I found my way into the incredible Calgary Stampede pageant that year because they have such a great platform & program for women with a desire to promote and preserve Western heritage, and share the Calgary Stampede with the world. I wanted to share what I knew about Agriculture, share my stories, and promote the good work and high standards of the rodeo industry. I remember sitting down at the orientation day, and being so impressed by Mick! She struck me with her kind demeanour and hospitable spirit, we became friends right off the bat and made it into the top 10 (along with my new friends Kim & Haley and many others!). I didn’t make it into the top 6, but Mick, Kim & Haley did– so I came back for the crowning ceremony to cheer my girls on!!! Mick went on to become Queen that year to no surprise on my behalf. I’ve been so lucky to follow my pageant friends through the years!
I met Carson fairly early in the pageant, because he was such a strong support system for Mick– cheering her on, in as many events as he could make it to! He is a farmer from Picture Butte but would make the long trip, just for her. Mick & Carson met at Olds College on the first day of their second year (they were introduced by a friend!) and found out they lived in the townhouses across from each other. A few weeks after, they started dating, and the rest is history!!
When Mick asked me to be their wedding photographer, I just about jumped out of my boots 🙂 I can’t wait to be photographing their wedding at the end of April, in Olds!!!!!! I’ve been looking forward to photographing this beautiful farm couple all winter!!
