Rustic Wedding in Airdrie

The inspiration for this shoot came from heirlooms like granddad’s pocket watch & great-grandmother’s pearls. Textures and colors that you are familiar with from poking around Grandma’s jewelry box as a kid, or discover with ancient family photos in the attic. I wanted to take advantage of the dry, warm weather we had in March by using muted colors & antique gold brought to life by a punch of luxurious mulberry. Our insanely talented makeup artist, Preet from Studio 150 gave our models a colorful lipstick to polish off their looks. My personal favourite was the Kat Von D lipstick she used on our bride: what a beautiful mulberry color!! I will have to buy it for myself! I wanted this shoot to have an authentic, rustic feel & the bouquet to be modern but not too polished– our florist Adele from Corinthia Flowers added gorgeous gold strands to the bouquet. Most of the shoot was photographed in front of the Lunde Family barn, which is 90 years old. Our bride had a convertible dress hand picked by the ladies at Cameo & Cufflinks– it was a gorgeous fitted lace cocktail dress with a removable, full-length tulle skirt which was simply stunning. When I walked into the boutique in downtown Calgary and told the girls there about my vision, it was the first gown they showed us & we were in love! There was a broad range of textures in this shoot, from worn leather, antique gold, sheer tulle, lace, pearls and the colors of late Winter. Thanks to the expertise of BerylAnne from Where Memories are Made in Airdrie, our models wore beautiful antique gold & rustic leather jewelry from her boutique. The 3-tier gold sequin cake from BubeBakes was such a statement. We were extremely blessed to have THE BEST in the industry contribute to our styled shoot. Everything from the dress, the cake, the makeup — everything was perfect!

This styled shoot was coordinated, organized and planned by myself & my two close friends, Vee from Victoria Blaire Photography and Taelor from Pink Sky Photography. Vee is my mentor and the woman who put a camera in my hand in the first place— who has nurtured and cared for my business from day one as if it was her own. And Taelor (who I met through association with Vee) is probably one of my favorite girls on the planet [and also getting married next summer – what!]!! I am inseparable from these two wonderfully talented ladies. I am constantly reminded of how photographers need community, not competition. Together, we create something gorgeous that benefits all of our businesses – it’s a win win for all of us. This is the first of 3 planned styled shoots we have planned for this year– expect to see a lot of good stuff in the next year from our dynamic trio!!
