In March I was able to travel to Sacramento California for a terrific miniature horse clinic!!! Me and my travelling companion Sarah enjoyed the warm weather, the color GREEN (we miss you, green!!), oranges growing right on the trees, and SUNBURNS– yes , we both got a sunburn, and it was AWESOME! We were on the airplane down, and we had the idea to rent the coolest car on the block.. How many times in our life were we going to get the chance to drive a sports car, with the top down, in California?.. So we rented a bright candy red Camaro convertible for good measure!!
For us, a true vacation has to involve horses in someway, and this clinic was perfect to a T. Jacob & Rich from Double E Ranch organized for us to learn from two powerhouse World Class trainers—- Cassidy Blanton on the performance side and Casey Campbell on the halter side, and Tracy Yost for a grooming workbee. The food and the hospitality were fantastic as well!!! After the clinic, we had the pleasure of touring the Wingate training center, where I found a ton of happy, famous beautiful horses up close that I had only seen in my Miniature Horse World Magazine and in person at the World Show!! Many horses were given hugs on my behalf!! Thank you Casey & Tracy, Kelly & Sue for taking time out of your evening to show us around. We were so impressed! Many hugs and teary eyes as we were saying goodbye!!
I drove at least 6 different horses that weekend and really improved my reinsmanship. I took home a lot of valuable information that I put to work right away with my classic pleasure horse Beau. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend and we were so sad to come home.
