I’m always looking to learn more about beauty and last week, I was lucky to be able to sit in on an appointment at WinkFX in Airdrie. I met the owner, Shari Foster and that day I learned all about eyelash extensions– it’s an art!!! First, Shari carefully tapes your bottom lashes out of the way (so they won’t tangle with the top). Then , using tweezers, she goes through EACH of your lashes and glues an eyelash extension onto the lash. She selects different lengths of lashes to suit your eye shape, to compliment your eye.

After watching & documenting Shari’s client appointment, I was excited to get fitted for my own set of lashes!!! With a quick, analyzing look at my eyelashes, Shari tells me that a set of natural brown Russian volume lashes would look great on me because of the red tones in my hair and freckles. I eagerly consented, laid down on the heated massage bed, wrapped myself in a blankie, took a deep breath, closed my eyes…

And then I woke up 3 hours later!!! I was warm in my little cocoon, and must’ve dozed off. It took a few moments for me to wake up, and then Shari passes me a mirror.

When I first looked in that mirror, I couldn’t believe my eyes. (pun intended). I looked absolutely beautiful . It’s incredible what eyelashes do for your face. I blinked, and blinked again. My eyelashes were weightless. I couldn’t feel them at all. They were soft and luxurious, and felt like my real lashes. So Shari asks, “How do you feel? Do you like them??”

And I respond, “I feel like a real woman, and I don’t care that only my cows will see me.”
