Willy & Tye’s Romantic Ranier Wedding
Willy is my wonderful florist from Prairie Blooms Studio in Brooks, AB. I met her last summer while photographing Alicia & Tyson’s Rolling Hills wedding— I remember saying “who’s the florist!! I need to speak to the florist!”– finding (and hugging) Willy and expressing my admiration for her florals. That started our friendship, (we’ve worked together since then too!) and I was thrilled when she asked me to be the wedding photographer for her & Tye’s May Ranier wedding!!
Willy & Tye chose to share a first look (MY FAVORITE THING– read why!). Tye’s reaction had all of us grinning from ear to ear! They were able to share some quiet time before the ceremony, followed up by bridal party portraits.
Willy’s florals were a gorgeous mix of bold & rich colors!!! Roses, peonies and tulips really added charisma to the arrangement. I knew that I should expect nothing less from Willy!
I love bridal party photos following the first look!! Everyone is fresh & not yet wilted from the days heat 🙂 The ceremony was a river-side affair, and to everyone’s surprise, Willy’s dad drove the ladies to the ceremony site by tractor!! I love this vintage International!
A champagne break with the wedding guests after the ceremony! This gorgeous naked cake was the cake of my dreams!! Most weddings I go to, the cake doesn’t get eaten– there are other confections to draw the masses. BUT THIS ONE. This one was most definitely eaten!!!!!
The dinner was prepared by one of Willy’s relatives from Holland. It was incredible and took him 3 DAYS to prepare. It was a artful display of cuisine craftsmanship! Most of the meal was a cold salad bar. I was in heaven admidst all of the cut fruit, veggies, chicken and fish. One of my favourite dishes were the “tomato baskets” (or so I called them), roma tomatoes, with the insides scooped out and then refilled with a pate. And of course the baby shrimps, meatballs and delicious cold chicken!! FONDUE BAR!! This is the wedding of my dreams. I ate SO MUCH for dinner (I took a tiny piece of everything) that I only had 2 plates of fondue. I wish I would have rallied hard so I could fit in more dessert. Looking back at these photos make me crave milk chocolate!!!
LOOK AT THE CHOCOLATE! JUST LOOK AT IT!
