Preet from Studio 150 Makeup & Esthetics & I go way back 🙂 (or at least, to Spring 2016– but it feels like a lifetime ago!!). I remember shaking in my boots when I first messaged her asking if she might be… hopefully.. possibly? Interested in taking a risk and doing makeup for a young wedding photographers’ styled shoot!! (yup, that was me!). I didn’t have a personal relationship with any Makeup artists at that point, and when I started planning my first styled shoot ever, I reached out to see if she would be willing to take a chance and do makeup for the shoot. She did, she came out to the farm, she blew it out of the water, and we have been friends ever since! We did last August’s romantic country styled shoot together, she did a Power of Professional Makeup transformation on me for my yearly headshots & had a blast!! All of the shoots we’ve done together have been featured in Wedding blogs, and we are so grateful for that! I think a lot of being a small business entrepreneur is taking risks — like that day I sent a facebook message to Studio 150 (while feeding cows in the tractor). What a trip it’s been.
This shoot honestly got started in a chair in Preet’s studio, while she was filling my eyelash extensions (believe it or not). I was in her chair in July when we started excitedly chatting about doing another styled shoot. I asked her what she wanted to do– what had she been dreaming of doing for a look? And she immediately peeped up and said “Kaycee, I want to do full glam with a red lip”. So that was the starting building block of this shoot, *que us brainstorming, what would look good with a red lip? Maybe fall colors?*.
Then, when I was in a pinch (okay, not just a pinch– I had totally forgotten about hair for my models!) I asked Preet if she had a hairstylist in mind for the shoot– and that’s when she brought in Jamie-Lynn from Mopp Shopp Hair and Microblading for the job!! I am SO grateful she did. I sent Jamie a photo of what I wanted and she crafted the hairstyles masterfully. My models were thrilled with their hair and mentioned how long their hair stayed in place!! I wasn’t able to meet sweet Jamie in person– while Preet & Jamie were working away in the studio on hair & makeup, Willy and I were at the farm prepping for the shoot!. Thank you Jamie & Preet for making the magic happen!!
